Hi, I’m Susan.
I founded Espais Roca in 2018 to combine the luxury of a 5-star hotel with the comfort of a vacation rental. As an interior designer, I wanted to create beautiful spaces for families and friends without compromising on the quality and beautiful spaces I had enjoyed as a solo traveller or as a couple.
Our first project was a runaway success and led us to restore and modernize historic buildings across Europe. Today, Espais Roca offers unique stays in 10 locations, with more on the way.
14 Acres holds a special place in my heart as its the place I grew up, now lovingly converted to a number of luxury lodges so that others can enjoy the pleasures of the simple pleasures of country living that my happiest childhood memories were made from .
In 2020, we launched our Boutique Maison concept at Canto De
Luz in Porto, Portugal, where guests feel as if they are staying in a luxury Masion with friends, a far cry from the soulless chain hotels of yesterday. Canto now also boasts its own Cooking School and Wine Tasting program – Canto Cooking.
This concept has really resonated with travellers, and we are expanding it to Malta and Mallorca at Casa Roca which opens in 2025.
At EspaisRoca, our philosophy is simple :
- Travel should be a treat – Our guests enjoy levels of luxury and comfort that surprise and delight them
- Responsive service – travelling should always be a pleasure. We’re there when you need us.
- Kids need to have a great time – if the kids have a great time, everyone has a great time. Every one of our spaces has Xbox, free Netflix and Disney+, Amazon Echo, Board games, Toys, and more.
- Eco-friendly – all the spaces are Carbon Neutral meaning we preserve natural resources and limit our impact on the environment. We use the latest technologies to generate green power, capture rainwater and ensure that luxury stays don’t necessarily mean a guilty conscience.
- Modern luxury with heritage – all the spaces are freshly renovated but always preserve their original emblematic architecture.
Our approach came together little by little, through listening closely to what our guests wanted. Today, we are lucky to be fully booked nearly all of the time.
New Projects in Development :
- Casa Vitor – a 2-bedroom apartment in Chiado – Lisbon’s most chic address.
- Casa Cordon – a 3-bedroom family apartment in Chiado, Lisbon, featuring a media /games room.
- The Waterfront Retreats – two new lakeside eco-lodges on our 14 acre estate in the UK, designed for couples and small families to reconnect with one another, relax and rejuvenate.
- Casa Roca – a Boutique Maison comprising 10 luxury apartments in one of Palma’s most emblematic art-deco buildings, right in the heart of the old town. Casa Roca will also operate a gastronomic store showcasing amazing Mallorcan wines and artisan products from the Balearic islands as well as our cooking school. The experience will be topped with a gym for guests to enjoy.
- Golden Gate – The rejuvenation and reimagination of a beautiful art deco building in the heart of the Urban Conservation zone in Sliema, Malta. Offering 6 luxury suites, Golden Gate will be a full-service boutique Maison showcasing Maltese Wines and Cuisine with a daily changing, organic where possible homemade breakfast.
