Traditional country house hotels in Northamptonshire
If you want full hotel service (concierge, restaurant, daily breakfast service, spa) the strong shortlist is Rushton Hall near Kettering, Whittlebury Hall near Towcester (closer to Silverstone), Fawsley Hall, and The Falcon at Castle Ashby. All four are full-service hotels with restaurants and many have spa facilities.
These hotels do the proper country-house weekend brilliantly: afternoon tea, formal dinner, a spa morning. They are often the right pick for couples on a special weekend or short anniversary breaks where you do not want to think about cooking.
The trade-off is space and privacy. You are sharing the building with other guests and family rooms are tighter than you might expect. If you have small children, ask carefully about cot policy, blackout blinds and noise from corridors.
Spa and resort hotels: Whittlebury and Stoke Park
If a spa morning is the centrepiece of the trip, Whittlebury Park is the obvious choice for the south of the county. It runs a large spa, golf, and is a 20-minute drive from Silverstone. It is genuinely good for couples wanting hotel-grade pampering.
Stoke Park (just over the Buckinghamshire border) is the other big resort name within reach. It is at a different price point and feels more corporate.
Both work well for a one or two night spa stay; neither is the best base for a longer family or group holiday.
