The Cottage is the smallest and quietest of my three retreats at 14 Acres in Clipston, and the one couples come back to most often for a romantic countryside break. It is a luxury stable conversion with a super king bed, an outdoor terrace overlooking the garden, and the kind of detailing that feels considered rather than decorative.
I will be honest about hot tubs up front. The Cottage itself does not have a permanent built-in hot tub. What we offer instead is a hot tub experience on the wider 14-acre estate, which can be arranged on request and is quieter than a typical hot tub cottage rental because the tub is set away from the main building.

Why The Cottage works for couples
The Cottage sleeps up to 4 across one super king bedroom (the bed can split into two singles for friends sharing) and a sofa bed. For a couples break, this means you have privacy and space without the rooms feeling empty.
The interior is a heritage stone conversion with white walls, original beams, sage-green and natural-linen accents, and original art. It is a calm space, designed to slow you down rather than impress you.
Outside, there is a private outdoor dining deck with a gas barbecue, looking out over rolling countryside. Long mornings with a slow breakfast and a coffee on the deck are the typical rhythm here.

Hot tub access and how it actually works
Most hot tub cottages in the UK build a small tub onto the deck. The trade-off is noise and visibility from the main bedroom. We have done it differently: the hot tub is on the wider 14-acre estate, with private use slots that we book in around your stay.
What this means in practice. You and your partner get a defined private session in a properly maintained hot tub, away from the main accommodation. The cottage stays calm and uncluttered. We can arrange a session on the evening of your arrival, the morning of departure, or a midweek slot.
If a permanent in-cottage hot tub is essential to you, I will be honest and tell you we are not the right fit. If you would rather have a quieter cottage and a separate, well-maintained tub experience on the estate, please get in touch when you book.
What to do for a romantic Clipston break
Days at The Cottage tend to settle into a slow pattern. A walk into Clipston village in the morning, a long lunch at one of the village pubs (The Bulls Head or The George at Great Oxendon), an afternoon out to Foxton Locks or Welland Park, and a quiet dinner at the cottage or at The George.

If you want to book a private chef for an in-cottage dinner, this is one of the most popular add-ons for couples. I usually suggest booking the chef at least three weeks ahead.

Stays at The Cottage start from £119 a night. The standard policy is a 50 percent deposit at booking with the balance collected 30 days before check-in. Date changes are allowed up to 30 days before arrival subject to rate difference. Cancellations up to 30 days before arrival receive a full refund.
